About Fresno, California
Fresno is more than a city, it's a paradise of its own. Centrally located in the state,
Fresno is only three to four hours from Los Angeles, San Francisco or the Central California
Coast. Looking for mountain recreation? An hour drive takes you into the Sierra Nevadas.
448,500 people occupy this beautiful area where the sun shines 83% of the year. With an annual
average temperature of 77 degrees, Fresno and the surrounding San Joaquin Valley have become one
of the world's largest agricultural areas. Farming is certainly a major economic force in Fresno,
but we still retain a small community feel while offering the amenities of a larger city.
Sometimes we forget what is in our own backyard. We can travel only an hour to reach Yosemite
National Park where millions of spectators travel from all other the world to see our back yard.
We can take a drive to the wine country and see the Napa Valley up close to enjoy the fruits of our
own soil, or enjoy wines from our very own Fresno State University vineyard. We are proud of the
rich culture diversity and home town feeling that embraces our everyday life throughout the city
of Fresno.
